2014 Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is still in barrel and looks to be a 25- to 35-year wine. It is much softer than one normally expects from the old classic vintages of Randy Dunn, but the son seems to be trying to build more approachability into the wines without sacrificing any of their sheer concentration and extract. Blue and black fruits, earth, truffle notes, camphor and creosote are all present in this big, juicy, succulent mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that should be approachable young, hit its peak in 10-15 years and last 25-30.
